[4]Gifts for a Keiki

~ Keiki (pronounced "kay-key") is the Hawaiian word for "baby" or "child", literally meaning "the little one" ~

We went to Kihei town on our second day to do some souvenir shopping and I tried to sneak in some photography too! ;)

I was playing around with some presets in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom with these photos. What do you think of the edits? I really, really welcome any feedback on this, good or bad.

Please let me know how I can improve. :)

Thanks!

Taken just before sunrise in Wailea, Maui.

Our room was near the oceanfront so I decided to wake up really early on our first day and take some photos.

These photos were taken with shutter speeds more than 20 seconds. The light coming from the right side is from a spotlight installed near the oceanfront.

Last January, Mario and I went to Maui for the first time. It was the BEST vacation we've had so far. The island is absolutely beautiful! The weather was gorgeous and the people were very warm and friendly.

We learned how to just "hang loose" and relax.

This photo was taken in front of the resort we are staying at in Wailea, which is southwest of Maui. The island in the background is the island of Lanai, which is the smallest of Hawaii’s inhabited islands. It is also known as the Pineapple Island.

In ancient times, Lanai was thought to be overrun with evil spirits. A young man named Kaululaau, the son of a Maui chief, was exiled to Lanai to explore the island and deem it free of such spirits to make Lanai suitable for settling.

I doubt anyone is still checking this blog out. I have been so bad at posting photos! SORRY!

Anyways ~

Today marks Barack Obama's first year in office.

During his inauguration last year, jumbotrons were set up in front of my office building so that people could witness history in the making.

Here are some photos I took this day last year.
